Writers, poets condemn Israel’s brutalities against Palestinians

Writers, poets, intellectuals and members of civil society on Friday staged a protest demonstration outside the Pakistan Academy of Letters condemning bloodshed and massacre by the Israeli forces in the occupied territories of Palestine.

Chairperson of the PAL, Dr Najeeba Arif along with senior writers and intellectuals was leading the protest rally. The participants were holding placards inscribed with slogans such as “Stop Brutalities against Women and Children” “UN, World Forum should play its role in stopping bloodshed in Palestine” etc. While addressing the occasion, PAL Chairperson Dr Najeeba Arif said, “We strongly condemn the Israeli cruelty and brutality against the innocent citizens of Palestine.”

We appeal to the United Nations to play a role in resolving this issue justly. The massacre of innocent Palestinians is not acceptable under any circumstances. The people of the pen have always played a role as the first force against oppression and have used their pens as their swords, she said.

The purpose of the peaceful rally was to express solidarity with the Palestinian people against the barbaric bombing by Israel.

Literary organizations of the twin cities, eminent writers participated in the rally and recorded their protest against Israeli oppression.
