ISLAMABAD- A considerable decrease in the prices of petroleum products is anticipated from December 16, following a $5.49 per barrel reduction in the global market price of petrol.

After this reduction, there is a potential for a Rs. 13 decrease in the price of petrol per liter and a Rs. 15 decrease in the price of diesel per liter in the country.

The citizens, in response to the reduction in global petroleum product prices, are demanding relief from the government in local prices.

It should be noted that currently, the price of petrol in the country is Rs. 281.34 per liter, while diesel is priced at Rs. 289.79 per liter. The government will make a final decision regarding the possible new prices of petroleum products on December 15, which will come into effect from December 16.

It is evident that a significant reduction in petroleum product prices was also hinted at on the first date of December. However, despite the decrease in global prices, the government did not provide relief to the public, leading to strong reservations among the citizens.

The citizens expressed that when the government increases prices in the country due to a rise in global market rates for petroleum products, relief should also be granted to the public when there is a decrease.
