Will Pakistan modify its squad for Asia Cup 2022?

Between August 16 and 21, the Amsterdam Arena will be the site of three one-day international (ODI) games between Pakistan and the Netherlands. Pakistan is set to leave today to go to the series (Thursday). Therefore, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) didn’t pick Shoaib Malik for either the upcoming trip to the Netherlands or the Asia Cup in 2022. The cricket board’s decision not to include the experienced all-rounder in the team for either the series or the tournament was criticised on Twitter and by cricket experts.

On the other hand, PCB head selector Muhammad Wasim said in a statement that the cricket board had only made “changes that were necessary” when they announced the squad. So during today’s farewell press conference, Malik’s place on the Asia Cup team was brought up in a question to Pakistan captain Babar Azam. Still, Babar didn’t think it was likely.

“You can see that the team was made public after a lot of thought and discussion. I made those calls as the head coach and main picker.”

Thus, this is what Babar said in response to the reporter. The Pakistani captain went on to say that his country had chosen the best team they could. “Also, we don’t have time to change the team. Because we have the Asia Cup right after the tour of the Netherlands,” he said.
