Weather outlook of Lahore, Pakistan; fog disrupts traffic on Motorways, National Highway

LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly cold and dry weather for Lahore and most parts of Pakistan during the next two days.

According to the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is likely to affect western parts of Balochistan today.

Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Lahore and most areas of the country on Thursday night and the next two days.

However, cloudy weather and rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over hills is likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and northwestern districts of Balochistan during the period.

Fog/smog is likely to persist in plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh during morning and night hours.

Moderate to dense smog/fog is likely to disrupt traffic on portions of Motorway (Peshawar-Swabi, Swabi-Islamabad, Pindi Bhattian-Lahore, Kallar Kahar-Pindi Bhattian, Lahore-Abdul Hakim, Sialkot-Lahore, Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad, Faisalabad-Multan and Multan-Sukkur) and National Highway.

Less visibility may cause closure of portions of Motorway from late night to early morning.

In Lahore, minimum temperature will likely remain between 07-09 degrees Celsius on Friday and 08-10 C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 11 C below the freezing point.

In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 09 C.

Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 66 per cent.
