SIALKOT –  The mother of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar has appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of an alleged police raid at her house in Sialkot.

In a video message, Usman Dar’s mother said she and other women of her house were subjected to torture during the police raid. She alleged that Khawaja Asif, former Defence Minister, was behind the police raid.

“You can see what they did to me and the women while raiding my house in the middle of the night,” she said.

Dar’s mother also alleged that Khawaja Asif orchestrated the raid just to discourage her from contesting in the upcoming general elections against him. But she said she was determined to contest the upcoming elections.

She also asked the people of Sialkot to support her, saying that everything was happening in front of them.

“I’m gonna file the papers before the ECP, and this all is being done just to stop her from taking part in the elections,” she said.

She said she would not be afraid of going to jail or being handcuffed.

“Look, what I do with your Sher [lion],” she added while addressing Khawaja Asif.

This is not the first time the Dar family has faced such circumstances. Following a crackdown on PTI workers in the aftermath of the May 9 vandalism, the police had previously raided the residence of the Dar brothers in Sialkot. The rports of alleged ‘mistreatment’ of females during these raids had also surfaced.

In response to public backlash, the then-defence minister, Khawaja Asif, issued an apology for the reported ‘mistreatment’ of women during the police raids conducted against PTI leaders following the violent protests.
