Two-day SHRC training program held

During the ongoing 16 Days of Activism, The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) concluded a two-day intensive training program aimed at empowering police instructors with updated insights into the latest amendments and enactments concerning Human Rights, and Violence against Women and Children (VAWC) Laws. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of SHRC, highlighted the significance of empowering law enforcement with a profound understanding of human rights laws.

“This training program embodies our commitment to ensuring justice and safeguarding the rights of every individual within our society,” he emphasized. The training covered vital aspects including the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act 2013, National and International Law concerning the permissible use of force, and the recent 2022 amendments to the Sindh Protection of Human Rights Act.

Barrister RidaTahir, Consultant at SHRC, emphasized the significance of the training, stating, “Our goal is to ensure Police Instructors possess a nuanced understanding of the legal frameworks related to human rights, enabling them to uphold justice and protect the rights of all individuals.
