Taj Mahal in danger as Hindu fundamentalists eye UNESCO heritage site to be declared Hindu temple in origin!

Hindu fundamentalists continue to make false claims about historical sites threatening India’s Muslim heritage. A prime example of this is the demolition of the Babri Masjid 30 years ago.

As reported, a recent petition filed by a leader of Narendra Modi’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sought a fact-finding committee to “study the real history” of the 17th century. mausoleum Taj Mahal, a UNESCO heritage site aiming to declare the Taj Mahal a Hindu temple in origin.

However, this attempt was thwarted by the Indian court!

In the latest development, the Supreme Court of India, on 5 December, refused to entertain a plea seeking a direction to the authorities concerned to “remove incorrect historical facts relating to the construction”. Taj Mahal By Shahjahan” from history books and text books referred to in schools, colleges, universities.

“Public interest litigations are not meant to check fishing. We are not here to reopen history. Let history continue. The writ petition is dismissed for being withdrawn. The petitioner is given liberty to make a representation to the ASI. We have not expressed any qualification on that,” the bench said, according to Indian media reports.

The petitioner claimed that the present structure of the so-called Taj Mahal The mausoleum is nothing but the modification, renovation and refurbishment of Raj Man Singh’s Haveli.

This is said to be the second such petition which has been heard by the Supreme Court of India in the last 2 months.
