The Narendra Modi-led Indian government has exposed its own claims and promises of development and employment it made while revoking the special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019.

According to Kashmir Media Service, while unconstitutionally repealing the Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that granted special status to occupied Kashmir on August 05, 2019, the Modi regime had claimed that the move will bring development and employment opportunities in the territory.

The Modi government on Tuesday admitted in the Parliament that due to unemployment around 78 persons committed suicide in occupied Kashmir from 2020 to 2022. The revelation was made by the Indian Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, while replying to a query in the Parliament.

Presenting the statistics, he said that 46 suicides were reported in 2020, 15 in 2021 and 17 in 2022 in occupied Kashmir.—KMS
