In a significant development, leaders from various political parties came together to address the prolonged sit-in at Angoor Adda on the Pak-Afghan border, urging the government to initiate positive negotiations with the AhmadzaiWazir tribes who have been protesting for the past 26 days.
An emergency press conference was convened at the sit-in venue, where representatives from all ma-jor political parties voiced their concerns and issued a stern warning to the federal and provincial gov-ernments, along with the civil administration. The leaders emphasized that immediate action must be taken to address the demands of the protesters, or else they would declare a complete shutterdown strike across Lower Waziristan as part of their next plan of action.
Among the prominent political figures present were AmanUllah and Imran Mukhlis from PPP, AsadUl-lah from Jamaat-e-Islami, AshfaqWazir from Pakhtunkhwa MAP, AyazWazir from ANP, and local social activist Muhammad RasoolWazir. The leaders highlighted the critical nature of the situation, pointing out that no negotiations had taken place with the organizers and participants of the sit-in since its inception. They expressed deep concern over the extreme conditions the protesters were enduring in the cold, emphasizing that the govern-ment’s lack of response raised questions about its commitment to addressing the grievances of its citizens.
The leaders drew attention to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the AngoorAdda area, where the blockade of all entrances and exits had led to a shortage of food items, causing severe problems for the local population.
