LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday ordered the closure of all business activities by 10pm daily in the provincial capital of Lahore.

Justice Shahid Karim issued the written order on petitions seeking measures to control smog. He also directed the chief minister’s secretary, CCPO Lahore and other administration to take steps in this regard.

He also directed the local government to issue a notification regarding work from home for two days a week for all private organisations and banks.

Justice Shahid also ordered the Department of Environment to seal the factories causing pollution in the city. He also sought an implementation report in this regard on next hearing.

Meanwhile, China and Pakistan are collaborating to tackle the hazardous smog and air pollution threatening the lives of over 100 million residents in Punjab province. Three areas have been identified for China-Pakistan partnership to help Punjab address the dangerous atmospheric toxicity that has enveloped many districts over the last two months, Gwadar Pro reported on Sunday.
