Schools, and other educational institutions are set to be closed for winter vacations in light of harsh weather conditions, especially in regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa, and Balochistan where the temperature is falling below freezing point.
The provincial administrations of two provinces are closing schools for the safety of students and staff, as people of these least developed regions are facing several plights.
The interim setup in Balochistan and KP on Tuesday announced 2.5 half months winter holidays in areas where extreme weather conditions prevail. The winter vacations in all public and private schools in winter zone districts will be observed from mid December 2023 till early February 2024.
Balochistan Secretary Colleges and Technical Education announced educational institutions in cold regions from December 16, 2023 to February 29, 2024.
The officials further announced that new academic year will begin from March 1.
In a similar development, Punjab, Islamabad, and Sindh announced holidays for two weeks. In Lahore, and other
cities, schools and other educational institutions will remain closed from December 16 to 31.
