Karachi cops arrested for extorting money from cricketers Aamir Yamin, Sohaib Maqsood

KARACHI – Pakistani cricketers Aamir Yamin, and Sohaib Maqsood were stopped by police personnel who reportedly extort the duo, prompting response from top officials.

The duo, who are in port city for National T20 Cup, faced the problem while returning to Multan by road, where cops intercepted their vehicles.

Aamir and Sohaib then narrated their ordeal in a social media post, exposing corruption at its peak in Sindh Police.

In a tweet, cricketers claimed they were extorted Rs8,000 by police personnel before being allowed to continue to travel Multan.

The serious allegations triggered quick response from police department and four policemen were held from Nawabshah and they landed in jail.

Senior officers of Sindh police including DIG took notice and ordered inquiry against police officer involved in the incident.

The officials further removed area SHO and secretary of Sakrand police station for their negligence, and inquiry report will be sent to the IG.
