MUMBAI – Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor recently opened up about her significant regret in life following the passing of her mother, the iconic film star Sridevi.

The actress admitted that she did not fully utilize the skills she had access to as the daughter of the renowned actor Sridevi, owing to the pressures associated with nepotism.

She expressed these words in a recent talk with a large audience.

Janhvi Kapoor, the elder daughter of the late actor Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor, made her Bollywood debut in 2018 with Dharma Productions’ romance film ‘Dhadak,’ the same year her mother passed away in February.

She was of the view that when she was working on her first film ‘Dhadak’ she was overly conscious of wanting to distance herself from her mother owing to the perception that she secured the role simply because of being daughter of Sridevi.

“I adopted a different approach, just thinking that I will not seek any assistance from her mother,” said the actress, adding that she would do the opposite of what she did.

The actress stated that she used to ask her mother not to come to the sets.

“I also used to ask her not help me,” said Jhanvi,  adding that she used to feel it an unfair advantage.

“How many people have access to Sridevi Kapoor, the best actor to come out of India?,” she asked. She stated that she thought that it was already an unfair advantage, and it would be more unfair if she took her advice.

“It was just a silly approach,” said the actress, regretting over her act.

She said, “I was her daughter and I can’s run away from her. I just took peoples’ opinions so seriously and now I regret,”.

Jhanvi said, “My mother wanted to be on the set with me; she wanted to help me but I denied,”.

The actress also reflected upon her remorse, saying that it was one of her biggest regrets because sometimes she felt that she had just said to her mother that there was a shoot and that she should come early.

The actress added that “She is proud of being her daughter.  If people want to engage in a moral debate about whether Janhvi Kapoor being Sridevi’s daughter is right or wrong, they can’t because that’s the truth,”.
