Islamabad, Pakistan weather update; fog persists in plains

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly cold and dry weather for twin cities and most parts of Pakistan during the next two days.

According to the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.

Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of the country on Monday evening/night and the next two days.

Extremely cold weather is expected in northern parts.

Fog/smog is likely to occur in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh during morning and night hours.

Moderate to dense fog may cause closure of portions of Motorways from late night till early morning.

Less visibility will also disrupt vehicular movement on the National Highway.

In Islamabad, the minimum temperature will likely remain between 01-03 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature will likely remain between 02-04 C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Extremely cold weather prevailed over northern areas.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where the mercury dropped 06 C below freezing.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 03 C.

Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 92 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 04 C.

Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 93 per cent.
