Imran Khan uses AI-generated clip to address PTI’s virtual rally

ISLAMABAD – Former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan used Artificial Intelligence generated audio, video clip to address millions, at a time when the outspoken politician is facing a blackout on mainstream media.

As PTI founder, who was recently ripped off from his party chairmanship, is not contesting elections but he remains the face of the dissent, and continues to lure voters.

Khan’s AI-generated speech on Twitter faced major disruptions, triggering concerns and allegations that caretaker setup was attempting to muzzle the opponents.

The 4-minute clip, which was heard by a large number of people, was generated with voice clone. The speech clip is a sort of montage, comprising old clips where PTI founder addressed his supporters in his rare style. The clip continued with historical footage of former PM and candid pictures.

Imran Khan remained behind bars in case related to leaking secret documents.

International media reported that Imran Khan shared shorthand script through his lawyers, and text was then converted into audio using an AI tool.

More than a million people watched PTI Jalsa on streaming site YouTube and it was attended live by huge users on other social platforms like Twitter.

On Sunday, NetBlocks confirmed that social media sites including YouTube faced disruption for hours starting 8pm, but Khan fans and social media users used proxy services to join virtual Jalsa.
