ISLAMABAD – A special court established under the Official Secrets Act on Wednesday indicted former PTI chairman Imran Khan and vice chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case.

Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain framed the charges against them during a hearing in the Adial jail, saying the trial would be started tomorrow. However, both suspects denied the allegations.

He has summoned the witnesses to record their statements in the case.

Earlier this month, the court distributed charge sheets among the accused with new charges added to the case. The court had emphasised that it is under the high court’s directive to complete the trial within one month.

It is recalled that the Ministry of Interior had previously issued a notification, initiating the jail trial proceedings against the former premier and the ex-foreign minister in the case.
