In early May, Google announced that the Lite version of YouTube would be discontinued by the end of the year, and now the company has taken another step towards the Android Go platform, optimized for the most budget smartphones.
Lightweight “gallery” – Gallery Go has been suddenly renamed, deleting the “Go” part. As a reminder, the Gallery Go app debuted in mid-2019 as a light version of Google Photos.
With last week’s update to version 184.108.40.2066428459, the app has changed from Gallery Go to simply Gallery. At the same time, not only the name itself has changed, but also the application icon.
The application is specifically designed for offline use, without a permanent connection to the network. Gallery Go less than 10MB can automatically organize your device’s photo library into different categories, and there’s also easy editing with automatic image enhancement. It’s one of the few lightweight Go apps that anyone can install, not just Android Go smartphone users. Gallery Go has over 100 million downloads.
