The globally renowned Cupertino tech giant Apple is reportedly going to announce its first foldable smartphone by 2022. The phone maker has partnered with LG and Samsung for the development of the display panels for its future foldable devices. Apple will develop thinner displays as compared to its rivals.
As per reports, the South Korean tech giant, Samsung will be the main supplier of Apple who will provide it with foldable panels. Apple will use LTPO-based OLED panels of the Samsung in its first foldable phone. On the other side LG will be the second supplier to supply the display panel to Apple.
Korea Time mentioned a statement of a senior industry executive as:
“Given Apple’s shift to actively adopt low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) technology, and with LG Display investing to guarantee volume capacity and stabilize production yields of LTPO-based OLED panels at its E6 manufacturing line in Paju, the company’s main display cluster, it’s possible that LG will supply these foldable displays for Apple’s new iPhone model”
The prototypes of the foldable iPhones are already under the development. According to leak, the first foldable iPhone will likely to be similar with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip and will be supported with Apple Pencil. The experts also suggest that the Apple’s foldable iPhones will be comparatively cheaper than the foldable phones available under other brand names.
